Every Reason Why Zendaya Will Always Be The Princess of The Met Gala

As the Met Gala draws near, anticipation builds to see the stunning ensembles our favorite celebrities will grace us with, especially given this year's enchanting theme of the “Garden of Time.” Among the elite, Zendaya holds a special place as the princess of the Met Gala, alongside Rihanna as the reigning queen. With that in mind, let's revisit some of Zendaya's most memorable looks from previous years and indulge in a bit of speculation about what she might wear this time around!

2015 - “China: Through The Looking Glass”

What a sensational Met Gala debut! Zendaya made an unforgettable entrance by donning a mini dress with a train adorned with exquisite details by Fausto Puglisi while attending as his guest. The sun pattern of Zendaya's look and the intricacies of the details nodded to the theme of “China: Through The Looking Glass.” Her striking ensemble captured the attention of fashion icon Anna Wintour resulting in her securing future invitees to the prestigious event. This remarkable look signaled Zendaya's emergence as a formidable fashion force and muse, setting the stage for her continued influence in the industry.

2018 - “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”

This look has to be my absolute favorite among Zendaya's iconic style moments (though I must admit her Mugler ensemble at the Dune 2 premiere also holds a special place in my heart). However, there's something about this particular look that truly captivates me. Zendaya exudes unparalleled confidence as she rocks the F.A.B. (fuck ass bob) hairstyle with effortless elegance. Her portrayal of Joan of Arc is nothing short of stunning, and she absolutely nailed the theme. Clad in a Versace creation, Zendaya appears both fierce and feminine, embodying the essence of a modern-day knight in shining armor with a touch of regal grace reminiscent of a gown.

2019 - “Camp: Notes on Fashion”

Law Roach's exceptional styling for Zendaya at the 2019 Met Gala flawlessly encapsulated the Camp theme. Together, they presented a mystical display on the red carpet, where Zendaya not only looked ethereal but also crafted a captivating narrative. From her grand entrance to the subtle detail of leaving a glass slipper behind, every aspect of their presentation was carefully curated to mesmerize onlookers and portray a story. A standout feature of Zendaya's ensemble was the pumpkin coach bag by Judith Leiber, which added an extra layer of whimsy and tied the Cinderella-inspired look together seamlessly. This attention to detail highlighted the duo's ability to merge fashion with storytelling, creating an unforgettable moment in fashion history. In essence, Law Roach and Zendaya's collaboration showcased their creative synergy and meticulous approach to styling, resulting in a memorable and visually stunning appearance that will be celebrated for years to come.

2024 - “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion / Garden of Time”

Zendaya and Law Roach consistently deliver stunning looks, making it challenging to anticipate what the iconic fashion duo will unveil next. As Zendaya is a co-chair for this year's Met Gala, the possibility of her donning a custom Louis Vuitton creation is quite high. In addition to Zendaya’s usual show-stopping red carpet looks, I’m curious to see if there will be a nod to her first leading film role as Tashi Duncan in Challengers. While I personally admire the idea of seeing her in custom Schiaparelli or Loewe attire, her affiliation as a House Ambassador for Louis Vuitton since April 2023 suggests she might opt for their designs. Below are some of the looks I hope to see Zendaya in for the 2024 Met Gala. (Left to right — Balmain SS24; Alexander McQueen; Vivienne Westwood FW 1995)
