HOLISTIC HABITS TO ADD TO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE
During the New Year, it is inevitable to hear the mantra, “New Year, New Me.” While this is great for Instagram captions, this expression aids in the creation of goals that are often unsustainable. I can create a harmful mindset that can ultimately lead to disappointment. As we enter 2023, FOCUS Magazine encourages you to take a holistic approach to New Year’s resolutions.
Here are five holistic habits to add to your daily routine that will make 2023 one of your best years:
1. Spend the first hour of your day off Social Media
The way you start your morning can play a big role in how the rest of your day goes. Checking your email, text messages, or scrolling through social media as soon as you wake up can lead to a day of distraction. Instead of aimlessly scrolling through your feed, dedicate the first hour of your morning to yourself. As you drink your morning tea, or coffee or eat your breakfast bowl, spend time thinking about your day and visualizing what you hope to accomplish.
2. Prioritize Nutrition
Dieting, and weight loss are common New Year resolutions. But, the focus on losing weight can hinder the process of becoming healthier. Instead of emphasizing a number on the scale, it is important to focus on nutrition and health. If you’re trying to become a healthier version of yourself in 2023, start by increasing your water intake and taking multivitamins. Vitamins are a great way to ensure that your body is nourished and getting all the supplements it needs.
3. Save Money
Financial security is also very important. Make a conscious decision about where you spend your money. Taking time to budget and plan your expenses is also good for conscious spending and creates room for saving. Instead of spending money on material goods, save money for new experiences. Following a budget throughout the year can allow for new experiences like traveling and adopting new hobbies.
4. Try something new
Speaking of new experiences, challenge yourself to try something new every month this year. Experiencing something new does not always have to require a plane ticket across the country. There are many new experiences right around us. Take time to try a new restaurant or coffee shop in your area or speak to someone new. 5. Prioritize Self Care
Be sure to prioritize your mental health and well-being all of 2023. In your day-to-day, prioritize both your skincare and hygiene routines. Take time to reflect on how you're doing mentally and emotionally. Journaling is a great form of self-care and can be very beneficial. Dedicate at least one day each month to yourself. Spend this day pampering yourself. Get a haircut, a massage, get your eyebrows done, or buy yourself something new. You deserve it!
