Kendrick Lamar Pops Out In Designer For “Not Like Us” Music Video

Kendrick Lamar took a victory lap on the 4th of July with another public display of his hate for Drake with the official release of the “Not Like Us” music video. Directed by Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free, the two ensured the video would be an accurate depiction of everything that encapsulates the Compton-born rapper and his culture. From the scenes shot in LA to the aesthetics, there’s no denying that the direction of the video is a visual representation of Lamar. Besides the superb directing, visuals and references, the fashion tied everything together perfectly, styled ever so eloquently by Taylor McNeill and Jessica Willis.

Lamar already dubbed himself "best dressed moving forward" and is no stranger to the fashion world. From his performance at the Louis Vuitton Men’s SS 23 Show to collaborating with various designer brands like Martine Rose and Chanel, Lamar continues to captivate. In the “Not Like Us” music video, the wardrobe includes standout pieces that demand attention. Here’s a look at some notable items:

Lamar opens the video strong with a $1,250 total outfit with the Willy Chavarria Bad Boy Track Jacket and the Stefan Cooke White Cropped Trousers.

Following, Lamar hops on the Loewe wave with the fashion house’s Shorts in Sequins that would run you a calm $2,350.

As Lamar has worn and collaborated with the British-Jamaican designer before, it’s no shock that many of the looks in the video are Martine Rose, including this ‘How’s It Hanging’ T-Shirt.

The video continues with Lamar rocking the Martine Rose Shrunken Track Jacket that’s got a $622 price tag.

With the Martine Rose Leather Rider Jacket and the Martine Rose Twist Seam Cargo Pants, Lamar continues to show the brand love. The look is complete with the Ghetto Rodeo x Kaló Soil “God” Cap. Ghetto Rodeo, a Latinx-owned clothing and lifestyle brand founded in 2021, embraces LA’s street style.

One of the closing scenes shows Lamar, his wife and children dancing to the song in a living room, directly addressing Drake’s claims towards Lamar. He can be seen wearing the Kaló Soil Logo Zip Up Sweatshirt. Founded by Ian Ousley, Ryan Sullivan and Hunter Baker, Kaló Soil is known to upcycle vintage pieces (You may find Ian Ousley familiar as he plays Sokka in the live action of Avatar: The Last Airbender).

Lastly, we can't overlook the airbrushed “Not Like Us” t-shirts and tank tops worn by the dancers in the music video. This hints at the possibility of new merchandise from Mr. Lamar in the near future. We’re patiently waiting to get our own.
